A beautiful sunny day in the community garden on Wednesday 19 March. All set for the coming growing season. The garden awakens We were lucky to enjoy some amazing sunny days in March. Daffodils, tulips, primroses, primulas, aconites, forget-me-nots and forsythia are blooming. We’re looking forward to a great gardening year. In the garden Saturday 15 March Thanks to those who helped spread the ton of compost from Clare Compost on the polytunnel and communal beds. There was even enough to top dress some plots. Traditionally in Ireland potatoes are planted on St Patrick’s Day. The sunny Saturday on St Patrick’s Day weekend saw early Duke of York potatoes planted. Biochar Sunday 24 March Using biochar can improve soil structure, aeration, water-holding capacity and nutrient retention, and benefit soil microbiology.
